YAY OTHER LIVES! I was talking to Carrie about it the other day LIKE NO LISTEN CARRIE YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THEM THEY ARE AMAHZING. Do you have their other stuff cause I do and i will share if you don't! And the other stuff, yup. It's funny a lot of this stuff wasn't on other lists I'd seen except Bon Iver, M83, Coldplay and Radiohead for the most part so I think my list has more new stuff worth hearing, ya know? Idk. But it's good stuff, if you're interested in any/all, try them!!!!! ;D

Hi! SNAG MORE! :P Are there certain kinds of artists you like so I can tell you which others you should try? In the very least I must tell you The Wilderness of Manitoba btw had one song in Haven. November played as Duke and Nathan buried Chief's cooler. ;)

While I intend to eventually get through all of them, if I really love Beirut and Young the Giant, who else would you recommend to start with? I'm not too familiar with some of these artists (except Florence, Coldplay, Radiohead)

Ok so I just want to say Other Lives toured with Bon Iver for a while, or if you haven't ever tried Bon Iver, they are a bit similar to Beirut. Bon Iver is..you get kinda lost in it. Beirut as you know is a little more brazen and loud with the instruments used, Bon Iver is similar in feel but just has softer use of trumpets and other instruments. It's intensely beautiful music, though. A great album to listen to all the way through where you aren't distracted.

The Sand Band and Spokes are both similar to each other, and they are are both little more mellow than Young the Giant, I'd say. The Boxer Rebellion and Cold War Kids are a little closer to Young the Giant, maybe. I mean that in they have a great flow and feel through the album and also I just really like the lyrics.

To be honest most of these are pretty indie, and there's a few indie electronic-y (Pnau and Son Lux) but apart from the more well know artists like Coldplay, Radiohead, Florence, etc it's probably stuff you'd like! And if you try out a bunch and find you don't like it, no harm! :D

You rock! And I'm sure the music will too!

Hope you enjoy at least some of them! The key to finding the greatest stuff really is in randomly getting them like I did when I got all my music this year. :D

Here ya go, it was just these 3 so it was no biggie. Benjamin Francis Leftwich's album is one I really listened to a lot last spring for a while when I had no internet in my house. And Pete and the Pirates, too. I got into those two dudes at the same time. Peter Gabriel is a pinnacle in the musical art community, though. He was in Genesis with Phil Collins but he's been making music forever. New Blood (and disc 2 because it's too big as one file for MF) is his own personal reinterpretations of his own past songs. So it's interesting to hear...it's not remixes but essentially he's covering his own music. Very cool.
